Course Description
This 4-month Functional Nutrition program delivers all of the tools and skills you’ll need to confidently take a root cause approach with your clients and implement functional nutrition protocols for your clients using nutrition, supplement protocols, and lifestyle coaching.
This program is designed to be the foundation for functional medicine and is great for any coaches wanting to take a root cause approach with their clients or practitioners who need to set the foundation prior to lab testing interpretation (Tier 2.)

- Functional Nutrition - What is Functional Nutrition, how does this differ from Western Medicine’s approach, and Rachel’s Functional Medicine philosophy.
- The Main Initiators of Disease - All dis-ease comes down to 4 main types of stress and how they impact the body systems.
- The 4 Types of Physiological Damage - Most clients you will work with suffer from one of these underlying root causes.
- Nutrition and Lifestyle - Understand what nutrition and lifestyle changes will be needed to help the body heal from the different types of physiological damage.
- Supplements - Understand what supplements are needed based on each type of physiological damage.
- Lifestyle Factors for Healing - The 4 main lifestyle factors for healing are diet, exercise, sleep, and stress.
- Nutrition - Understand the different types of healing diets and how to implement each based on your clients core health issues.
- Healing diets - Learn how to help your clients reduce inflammation, eliminate food reactions, balance their blood sugar, and support their microbiome.
- Exercise - Understand exercise recommendations based on client health issues and the role resistance training plays in metabolic health.
- Sleep - Understand the sleep cycle and the role sleep plays in healing and learn protocols to optimize sleep and recovery.
- Meditation - Understand the role meditation, breath work, and mindfulness play in healing and overall health.
- Energy Balance - understand how energy balance works in weight gain and weight loss.
- Metabolic adaptation - Chronic dieting and stress can lead to metabolic adaptation making it harder for your clients to lose weight. Learn how to prevent and reverse this with your clients.
- Macros - Understand and learn the difference carbohydrates, fats, and protein play in overall health and body composition.
- Calculating Macro Goals - Learn how to calculate macros from your clients for fat loss, muscle gain, or maintenance.

- How Cortisol Works - Understand the role cortisol plays in the body and how chronic stress can lead to various health issues and disease.
- HPA-Axis - Understand how the body’s HPA-axis works and how it is interconnected with other systems in the body.
- Stages of Adrenal Exhaustion - From acute stress to chronic stress, learn how stress can overtime deplete the body’s reserves and how you can help your clients recover and heal from burnout.
- Resetting the HPA-Axis - We will give you exact protocols for addressing HPA-Axis dysfunction and repairing the adrenal glands.
- Root Causes - Learn the root causes for thyroid dysfunction like hypothyroidism and Hashimotos
- Autoimmune - Lean the root causes of autoimmune conditions and tactical protocols for healing the body’s immune system.

- Gut Health - This is the final stage after any gut healing protocol. Learn nutrition and supplement strategies and optimizing digestion and the gut microbiome.

- Rachel’s Gut Health Repair Program - This is Rachel’s 3-month group coaching program that you get as an added bonus so see how she coaches clients on gut healing and body composition simultaneously.
- Intro to Female Hormones - Learn the complexity of the female menstrual cycle, the transition into menopause, and the estrogen and progesterone play.
- Root Causes - Discover how hormone imbalances are a byproduct of diet, stress, and poor detoxification and gut health.

Who is this course for?
The 4-Month Tier 1 Functional Nutrition Course is for anyone who is serious about wanting to get started in functional nutrition or learn advanced nutrition protocols to help their clients heal and reach their most optimal health.
Tier 1 is available for anyone, but recommended for those who already have base level education in nutrition.
