Shaping Your Body with Phil Fit

We have all heard to be cautious of “gateway drugs” because they can be transformational in changing our lives and lead to addiction. For me, fitness is truly the gateway drug to personal development. While you can’t out train a bad diet. You also can’t out diet no training. Fitness, “this gateway drug” and our lifestyle are  not only about having a longer health span just not a longer life span. The time we have on earth looking our best and feeling our best.

So how do we train smarter? In this episode, we tune in with fitness expert, Phil Fit.For Phil body building became a part of his life at a young age. He entered his first how at the age of nine and his passion on been a cornerstone of his life ever since. In addition to a deep passion for fitness, he is also an empath and a has strong family beliefs. With his clients that want weight loss and esthetic goals he recommends higher rep type workouts. Phil also talks about how cardio doesn’t build muscle so adding weight training to cardio will help with those results. He thinks a combination of weight training and cardio is more effective for weight loss than cardio alone.

Phil’s advice for clients that have weight loss and  toning goals : 1. start appreciating and loving yourself. 2. to lose body fat and tone you have to mix up your workouts. 3. Squat and don’t be scared to go heavy. 4. you have to know what you’re doing- if you’re not confident a trainer can be incredibly helpful.

Advice to build mass: heavy lifting with more reps.( Make sure you have a spotter. )

Time to build muscle: a little over a year to see substantial results. This will not be an overnight success. Building muscle take time.

Phil’s Advice on Mindset: Fitness saved my life. Constantly, keeping my body active kept me off the streets and out of trouble. If you feel like you look good you’re going to feel good mentally.

Advice on Motivation: You gotta know what your why is. For me it’s my wife and kids.

It’s hard but you have to show up for you. We should do something every single day that we don’t want to do. Do something everyday that is hard. Doing something outside of your comfort zone will grow you.

Together, we can start slow and can keep on the course of our “gateway drug” and growth.

“So you see every day, every week, every month, and every year of my life, my hero’s always 10 years away. I’m never gonna be my hero. I’m not gonna attain that. I know I’m not, and that’s just fine with me because that keeps me with somebody to keep chasing.”- Matthew McConaughey
